Six Players Highlight Connecticut 6 All-Classic Team



BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Six players earned a spot on the Connecticut 6 All-Classic team as the first annual Classic took place on Friday night at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Sacred Heart’s Corey Hassan, Yale’s Alex Zampier, Fairfield’s Anthony Johnson, Central Connecticut’s Robby Ptacek, Quinnpiac’s James Feldeine, and Hartford’s Joel Barkers..

Hassan scored 30 points by netting 11 of his 17 field goal attempts which included three of six three-point shots. He just missed a double double with nine rebounds, and added five assists with two steals. Zampier tallied a game-high 35 points and was instrumental in Yale turning a 16-point deficit into a three-point disadvantage late in the game. He connected on 11 of 20 field goal attempts, five three pointers, and all eight of his free throw attempts.

Johnson nearly registered a double double in his first game back since January, 2009. The center scored 18 points and collected eight rebounds with a pair of blocks in helping the Stags lead from start to finish. Ptacek was five of nine from the field which included two of three three-point attempts and four rebounds. He was a spark in the second half for the Blue Devils, scoring 11 of his 15 markers in the final 20 minutes.

Feldeine finished the game with 23 points, tallying 14 points in the first half that helped Quinninpiac stay close. He helped the Bobcats build a second-half lead with his nine points, five rebounds, and five assists. Barkers put together a solid first half, coming off the bench to score 14 points. He finished the game with 23 points and seven rebounds, hitting 11 free throws and six field goals in the game.
