Corey Hassan Selected As Connecticut 6 Player Of The Week
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Senior Corey Hassan (Merrimack, N.H.) earned his first Connecticut 6 player of the week award after setting a school record with nine three point baskets in a game and leading the Pioneers to a 1-1 week.
The guard started his week with a 29-point performance that paced the Pioneers to a 76-65 win over Connecticut 6 foe University of Hartford. In that game, Hassan netted nine of 14 shots from behind the three-point arc. He just missed a double double with nine rebounds against the Hawks.
He came back with a double double against Fairfield University by registering 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 93-77 loss to the Stags. It was his Northeast Conference leading third double double of the season.
For the week, Hassan averaged 22 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, and shot 48 percent from three-point range (11 of 23). He is averaging 23.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the season.
The Connecticut 6 consists of Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, and Yale University.
