Feldeine Tallies 23 Points To Lead Quinnipiac Past Hartford By 85-74 Score

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – James Feldeine netted 23 points while
Jeremy Baker added 17 points to lead Quinnipiac University to an
85-74 win over the University of Hartford in the third game of the
Connecticut 6 Classic. Hartford’s Joel Barkers came off the
bench to score a team-high 23 points.
Quinnipiac scored on its first possession of the game, a lay up by
James Johnson after Jeremy Baker forced a turnover. Hartford
responded with five straight points to take a 5-2 advantage 90
seconds into the game, a lead which it would keep until Baker hit a
jumper at the 11:10 mark to make the score 17-16. Baker scored the
last seven points of a 15-11 run that put the Bobcats in front.
Barkers made a pair of free throws to regain the lead for Hartford
at 18-17, and the Hawks would once again rebuild its lead over the
next two minutes, holding a 21-17 lead at the 9:31 mark. Quinnipiac
managed to tie the game on three occasions over the next three
minutes, the last of which came at 26-26 with 7:33 remaining in the
half. Each time Quinnipiac tied the game, Hartford responded with a
hoop to recapture the lead.
The two teams played to 10 ties in the first half, the last of
which came at 39-39 with 1:49 on the clock. Baker made one of two
free throws which pushed Quinnipiac back in front, a lead it would
hold onto at halftime at 43-42.
Hartford scored the first four points of the second half for a
46-43 lead, and stayed in front for the next seven minutes.
Trailing 54-51 with 13 minutes remaining. Quinnipiac went on an 8-0
run to take its biggest lead of the game at 59-54. Jamee Jackson
scored four of those eight points for the Bobcats.
The lead would reach as many as 10 points with 3:38 on the clock,
allowing Quinnipiac to post the victory.
