Justin Rutty Picks Up Second Connecticut 6 Player Of The Week Award

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Justin Rutty received his second Connecticut 6 Player of the Week award after helping the Quinnipiac University Bobcats to a 1-1 week. The junior averaged a double-double for the week with 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

He began the week by leading the Bobcats to a win over Wagner University, posting 15 points and 10 rebounds. He made five of 11 shots from the floor and blocked three shots as well. He followed up that performance with 18 points and 15 caroms against Mount St. Mary's, making seven of 18 shots from the field.

Rutty tallied his 20 and 21st double-doubles of his career, a Quinnipiac University Division I record. He enteres this week just 45 points shy of 1,000 career points. He should reach the prestigious point in less than three years with the program.

The Bobcats, under Head Coach Tom Moore, own a 14-7 overall record and an 8-2 mark in Northeast Conference play. Rutty places second on the team in scoring with a 14.4 scoring average. He completes the season double-double with a 10.4 rebounding average.

The Connecticut 6 consists of Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, and Yale University.
