Justin Rutty Named Connecticut 6 Player Of The Week
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Quinnipiac University forward Justin
Rutty (Newburgh, N.Y.) earned the Connecticut 6 Player of the Week
after leading the Bobcats to a 1-1 week. The junior averaged a
double double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, including a 23-point,
14-rebound performance against Yale University.
The forward opened the week with 19 points and eight rebounds by
shooting nine of 12 from the field in a 79-71 setback to Lehigh
University. He also added a pair of assists and a steal in the
game. A few nights later, Rutty made 10 of his 15 field goal
attempts en route to his 23-point night against the Bulldogs. For
the week, Rutty shot 70 percent from the floor by netting 19 of his
27 attempts.
Rutty is averaging just under a double double for the season,
registering 15.7 points and nine rebounds per game. The Bobcats
currently own a 2-1 overall record.
The Connecticut 6 includes six Connecticut Division I schools,
namely Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University,
the University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart
University, and Yale University.
